Birthday Butterfly..again :)

I came across another website that offers weekly sketch challenges and you know how much Iove sketch challenges :) So this is my take on this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge.

There are two products I want to highlight for you:

Before I added the silver glimmer paper, I felt something was missing. It looked too plain. The glimmer paper sure gives it a nice pop -- don't you think? This paper is 12"x12" and comes with 2 sheets.

Silver Glimmer PaperItem#124005, $5.95)
My new favourite punch is the Elegant Butterfly -- it coordinates with the Papillon Potpourri stamp set. It's gorgeous! Here are the images for the punch and stamp set.

NEW! Elegant Butterfly punch (Item# 127526, $21.95)

Papillon Potpourri stamp set (Clear: 123759, $17.95..Wood: 123757, $22.95)

Stamping with Rach Tips & Tricks
  • Run the each pink cardstock through the Big Shot using 2 different embossing folders (one for each piece)
  • Add a strip of bling...I mean silver glimmer paper :)
  • Fold the butterfly in half then put a glue dot on the fold. When adhered to the card stock the wings can fold up as if the butterfly is in flight

Polk-a-dot Birthday!

It's pretty snowy here so I thought I'd create a bright and cheery card. Maybe the snow will take a hint and take a hike :)

I was tempted to use the new Honeycomb embossing folder again but thought I should really switch things up. So I went with the Polka-a-dot embossing folder to coordinate with the circles on the designer series paper.

I have to say that I think the Pinwheel Sizzlit absolutely adorable! I live that pinwheel! It's new in the Spring catalogue.
Pinwheel Sizzlit (#129411, $5.95)

Stamping with Rach Tips & Tricks
  • This particular card is square in shape. Finished size is 5" x 5".
  • Add dimensionals behind "Happy Birthday" so it's elevated off the card along with the pinwheel.
  • Add a brad to the middle of the pinwheel to keep it together.
  • Sponge Melon Mambo on the card stock that says "Happy Birthday".

Must-have's to create this card:
Stamp Set: Perfect Punches (Clear: 120516, Wood: 117022)
Paper Whisper White (100730), Melon Mambo (115320), Pacific Point (111350), Old Olive (100702), Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Series Paper (126922)
Ink Basic Black (126980), Melon Mambo (126948)
Tools: Big Shot (113439), Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder (117335), Pinwheel Sizzlit (129411), 1 3/4" Circle punch (119850), 2 3/8" Scallop Circle punch (118874), Extra Large Oval punch (119859), Dimensionals (104430), Glue Dots (103683)
Accessories: 1/8" Mini Brads (122941), Grosgrain Polka Dot ribbon (retired). The 1/2" Scallop Dots ribbon is an excellent substitute. It looks just like the ribbon I used except the edges are scalloped.

Henry Says "It's Your Birthday!"

I looooove Henry :) Isn't he the cutest?? This stamp set is, by far, in my top 5.

This card is based on this week's MojoMonday sketch. My layout doesn't mimic the sketch but hey, we all have creative license to create outside the box :)

Stamping with Rach Tips & Tricks
  • On one of the layers, use an embossing folder
  • Cut out Henry and then cut out a border for Henry in Cherry Cobbler. Apply dimensionals behind him so he stands off the page (I also cut out the flag banner and adhered it to Henry using 2-way glue)
  • Add some glimmer paper to give the card some pizzaz!

Must-have's to create this card:
Stamp Set: Henry Says (Clear: 128093, Wood: 128090)
Paper:  Whisper White (100730), Midnight Muse (126843), Bashful Blue (105120), Cherry Cobbler (119685), Silver Glimmer paper (124005), Basic Gray (121044)
Ink:  Basic Black (126980), Bashful Blue (126961), Midnight Muse (126860), Cherry Cobbler marker (119681)
Tools: Dimensionals (104430), Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch (119275), 1 1/4" Circle punch (119861), 1 3/8" Circle punch (119860), 1 3/4" Scallop Circle punch (119854), Big Shot (113439), Honeycomb embossing folder (129378), Square Lattice embossing folder (119976), 2-way glue pen (100425)

Birthday Butterfly

This week's card is based on MojoMonday sketch 275. It's a very simplistic card and it literally took me 5-10 minutes from conception to the final product! I love using embossing folders to give the card a bit of depth on the different layers.

Stamping with Rach Tips & Tricks
  • Use embossing folders on a couple of the layers to give the card more depth and personality
  • Put 1/2 dimensional behind the butterfly so it lifts off the card a bit - giving it a real butterfly effect
  • You can use ribbon or the Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch to get the "ribbon" piece in the middle.

Must-have's to create this card:
Stamp Set: Papillon Potpouri (Clear: 123759, Wood: 123757), Teeny Tiny Wishes (Clear: 127802, Wood: 115370)
Paper:  Whisper White (100730), Melon Mambo (115320), Elegant Eggplant (105126), River Rock (108640)
Ink:  Melon Mambo (126948), Basic Black (126980)
Tools: Dimensionals (104430), Elegant Butterfly punch (127526), Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch (119275), Big Shot (113439), Chevron embossing folder (127749), Square Lattice embossing folder (119976)

Hello, dear friend!

I adore adore adore this Moving Forward stamp set!! Did you know that when you purchase it, Stampin' Up contributes $3US to Ronald McDonald House Charities?

What a fun spring-like card to make on a cold winters day. It's based on MojoMonday sketch 274.

Stamping with Rach Tips & Tricks
  • To get the red border around the bicycle image, I punched out a 2 1/2" circle, cut it in half, adhered to the back of it.
  • Stamp the flowers in the basket and then again on whisper white card stock. Cut out and adhere to basket with a dimensional.
  • Add rhinestones to middle of bike wheels to give the card a bit of bling.
  • Use the Top Note Bigz with the Big Shot for a fun layer on your card (I used with the Summer Smooches designer series paper)

Must-have's to create this card:
Stamp Set: Moving Forward (Clear: 126322, Wood: 126320)
Paper:  Whisper White (100730), Real Red (102482), Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper (125409)
Ink:  Island Indigo (126986), Real Red (126949)
Tools: Dimensionals (104430), 2 1/2" Circle Punch (120906), Petals-a-Plenty Embossing Folder (116824), Big Shot (113439)
