July Technique Night

We had a smaller group this past Friday for Technique Night but oh the fun we had learning about the QUILTING technique!! Simply bring your elements together and run through the Big Shot using your favourite embossing folder. That's it!! For these particular cards, I thought the Square Lattice embossing folder was perfect. I love how the cards are very simplistic, yet the quilting element really adds a WOW factor.

As you can see each card has a different level of quilting:
1. A small section of the card was quilted
2. The full card front was quilted
3. One layer of the card was quilted

Love the versatility! What do you think about the cards we made?

Kindness
Card Stock: Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry
Ink: Island Indigo (NEW!), Rich Razzleberry, Baja Breeze
Stamp Set: Flower Fest, Heard from the Heart
Tools: Big Shot, Square Lattice Embossing Folder

Tips & Tricks:
1. To balance the card, cut 1/2" strip of Rich Razzleberry and apply to the bottom of the card. It pulls the colour of the middle Rich Razzleberry flower and give the card excellent balance.

Thank you with Flowers
Card Stock: Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Early Espresso, Pretty in Pink
Stamp Set: For All You Do
Tools: Big Shot, Square Lattice embossing folder, 1 3/4" x 7/8" oval punch, 1 3/8" x 5/8" oval punch
Accessories: Rich Razzleberry ribbon

Tips & Tricks:
1. Stamp the top 3/4 of the Whisper White leaving the bottom 1/4" free for the sentiment. With so much detail in the quilting, you want to make sure your greeting stands out.

Going in Circles!

Card Stock: Whisper White, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist, Pretty in Pink, Daffodil Delight, Just Add Cake DSP

Tools: Big Shot, Square Lattice embossing folder, 3/4" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch

Tips & Tricks
1. Whenever you 'quilt', always first adhere your elements that you intend to quilt. That way they will stay in place when you are running the piece through the Big Shot

So much fun! Do you want to join the Techniques Club? Contact me for details!

July Make 'n Take

It's been a while since I posted... Camera got some sand in it so had to wait for new camera purchase to take pics and post. So here ya go!

This past Wednesday, was Make 'n Take and we made 4 cards. Three had a clean & simple look, the 4th was a bit more colourful and some louder elements. Love them all! Do you?

I was in the mood for clean & simple and they got RAVE reviews! Would love to know what you think.

WISH BIG BIRTHDAY
Card Stock: Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo (NEW!)
Ink: Limeade (NEW!), Rich Razzleberry
Stamp Set: Pennant Parade (NEW!)
Tools: Pennant Parade Punch, 3/4" circle punch, Big Shot, Top Note Bigz Die, Polka Dot Embossing Folder
Accessories: Linen Thread
This is a 90% replica of another demo's card. I can't remember her name but will add to this post once I get it.
Tips & Tricks!
1. To ahdere the Wish Big sentiment without a dimensional but still look 3D, simply put adhesive behind it and it will stick to the thread. As you can see, it looks like it has a dimensional!
2. To make your Top Note look more festive, run it through the Big Shot using the Polka Dot embossing folder!

CELEBRATE YOU!
Card Stock: Whisper White, Real Red, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie
Ink: Basic Black, Daffodil Delight
Stamp Set: Party Hearty
Tools: Scallop Circle Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Daffodil Delight marker, Dimensionals
Accessories: Black ribbon
This was inspired by the Clean & Simple layout template.

Tips & Tricks:
1. To ensure your circles fit without being too squished, cut off 1/8" off  the top and bottom circle
2. Using the same Celebrate You stamp, clean it off and then use the Daffodil Delight marker to colour the present found in the middle of the stamp

 HAPPINESS ALWAYS
Card Stock: Whisper White, Baja Breeze DSP, Rose Red, Rose Red DSP
Ink: Rose Red
Stamp Set: Happy Greetings
Tools: Pearls, Butterfly Punch, Extra-Large Oval Punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, Scallop Trim Borner Punch
Accessories: Basic Pearls
This was inspired by the Clean & Simple layout template.
Tips & Tricks!
1. To achieve the Rose Red outline around the sentiment, punch out using the Extra-Large Oval. Cut that in half and adhere to the back of your Whisper White card stock sentiment
2. In order to have the butterfly wings movable, put a glue dot on the centre of the body. You can then fold the wings up.
3. To add a bit of bling to the butterfly, add beautiful small basic pearls.
